A CHARITY has issued an urgent appeal for volunteers in Northwich to help it continue its vital work supporting brain injury survivors and their loved ones.

Headway, the brain injury association, runs a shop in Leicester Street selling bric-a-brac to raise crucial funds.

The charity shop is now looking for friendly people to volunteer their time in a number of ways, including greeting and serving customers, sorting donations, ensuring the shop floor remains tidy and welcoming.

Marie Smith, the Headway Northwich store manager, said: "We are a very busy shop, so we desperately need more kind, positive people to join our much-valued team.

"No experience is necessary, and we would be very happy to provide volunteers with training and support."

Around 350,000 people are admitted to hospital with brain injuries each year, equating to one every 90 seconds.

Headway – the brain injury association is a UK-wide charity that works to improve life after brain injury by providing support, advocacy, and information services to brain injury survivors and their families.

Marie added: “The money raised from sales in our charity shops ensures that we can continue to offer support to those affected by brain injury.

"Volunteering is also a fantastic way to learn new skills, make new friends, and to feel more connected to your community.

"We'd love to hear from you if you can spare us a few hours a week. You will become an important part of helping improve life after a brain injury."
